Business Pitfall #1: Money Paradigm

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Over half the small businesses that open their doors today, will close their doors in less than a year. That’s a 50% failure rate and that’s scary. But if business owners set their mindset before opening their businesses, the failure rate could drop.

Every entrepreneur faces a plethora of mindset challenges. We’re going to look at three of the common challenges that plague small business owners in a series of three articles.

Article 2 – Business Pitfall #2: No Plan
Article 3 – Business Pitfall #3: Information Overload

Business Pitfall #1: Money Paradigm

A paradigm is a commonly held belief, or way of thinking. Sometimes it may be true, but quite often it is not. For example, in ancient times, a common paradigm was, “the world is flat.” Science proved that paradigm to be false.

Today, a common paradigm is, money is in limited supply. The truth is, there is no limit to the amount of money you can amass. The only real commodity in limited supply is time. However, you must remember that time is your friend, not your enemy! Every person has the same amount of time in a day. But people use their time differently. The activities of a multimillionaire are much different than those of a struggling factory worker.

Today, most people’s outlook on money is defined by their paycheck. If they make $3,000 a month, they try to squeeze their lifestyle into a $3,000 box. They live in a house they can almost afford, they drive a vehicle they don’t like and they travel only as much as their credit card allows. They think money is limited.

In the industrial age, that was somewhat true. People could get a second job to supplement their income, but they rarely got further ahead, because they were still limited by the amount of time they could work. Thank goodness we’re not in the industrial age. At the turn of the century we entered the information age.

Today, you can sit in front of your computer for an hour or two and make tens, even hundreds of times more money than you could make in the industrial age. Your income is no longer limited to the number of hours you can work. It’s only limited by your imagination, your knowledge and your action.

People all over the world are turning to the internet to start a small business venture. The advantages of a virtual business include, no commuting, very low start up costs, minimal maintenance fees, flexible work hours, no set location – work wherever there’s an internet connection, and no boss hanging over your shoulder.

The internet opens a whole new world of possibilities for ordinary people who are willing to push through the money paradigm.

I need 100 Beta Testers

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Hi there

I’ll try to keep this brief, but I’m really, really
excited, so I may ramble a bit :)

I need 100 Beta Testers to stress test and critique a brand
new training system. And that’s fantastic news for both of
us.

I’ll start at the beginning, so you know where this came
from.

I get at least 10 emails or phone calls each week from
people who want to know how to start an online business. I
sympathize with everyone who is struggling to start an
online business, but I don’t have time to train each person
individually.

The flip side of the coin is to hire me as a consultant,
but my fees don’t fit most beginning internet entrepreneur’s
budgets.

So there is a gap between teaching people how to set up and
profit from an online business and the new business owner’s
ability to pay for the consulting they need.

This is a gap that’s frustrated me for a while, because I’d
love to help everyone enjoy the internet business owner’s
lifestyle. And now I can :)

Here’s how:
Three years ago, my business coach, Richard Butler, and I
started working on a training system that combines the best
of both worlds. Our goal was to create a self-directed
university style course, but have contact with the students
at the same time.

We wanted to answer your questions live, in an open
TeleClass environment. And help you build a profitable
internet business, based on systems. So you could plug into
the system and repeat it as many times as you want in as
many internet businesses as you want.

We wanted a training program that took you right from the
beginning and taught you how to clone the way successful
entrepreneurs think. How to start at the beginning and
register a domain name, set up hosting, design a simple
product and build a basic website. And finally, how to get
lots of visitors, so you make lots of sales.

That’s what we wanted. And that’s what we built.

And now it’s your turn to put it to the ultimate test.

We are allowing 100 people to Beta Test the system and give
us feedback. It means getting into the system and using
everything we’ve provided for you.

Then we’re going to get on group conference call and
discuss what you like about the course and what you’d like
improved.

If you’d like to become a Beta Tester and learn how to
start and run a profitable internet business at the same
time, I invite you to visit

I look forward to hearing your comments.

Enjoy your day!

Master Resale Rights Strategies for 2008

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

I thought you’d find this interesting. I just had a
conversation with Sam on Skype. He was positive he could not
make any money with Master Resale Rights. So I did my best
to show him how he could. You be the judge.

Sam: I’ve been watching you

Terry: Ah ok. Do I know you?

Sam: Don’t worry I’m not stalking you, I’ve been watching
you progress over the years

Terry: Ah thank you, you had me worried for a moment. LOL

Sam: I have a question for you, if you have the time

Terry: Sure thing

Sam: It’s about the master resale rights you’re selling on
the warrior forum how’s that going?

Terry: Quite well, thanks for asking

Sam: Has anyone made money from them

Terry: They just went on sale on Saturday, but if someone
has sent out an offer to their list, they’ve probably made
money from them. I really have no way of knowing unless they
send me feedback.

Sam: But in general, does anyone make money with those
things

Terry: Yup, they sure do

Sam: I’ve bought tons of them and haven’t made a cent

Terry: What have you done to sell them?

Sam: I put them on my website

Terry: What’s the topic of the website

Sam: Like yours IM stuff

Terry: Are the products new or old?

Sam: Pretty new

Terry: what’s your website, I’ll take a look

Sam: www.(website blanked out for privacy)

Terry: Ok, I have a couple suggestions. You have master
resale rights for all this stuff?

Sam: yes

Terry: why should I bu’y it from your site instead of for $1
from ebay

Sam: what do you mean

Terry: I just took a look at your site and googled 3 of the
products you’re offering and I can bu’y them on ebay for $1

Sam: see that’s what I mean

Terry: so why are you selling them for $47

Sam: I can’t sell them for $1, then I don’t make any money

Terry: but you’re already not making any money, so why not
list them on ebay for $1

Sam: Is that what you suggest

Terry: nope, I’m playing devil’s advocate

Sam: so I should sell them on ebay for $1

Terry: I wouldn’t

Sam: so what should I do

Terry: You have the master resale rights to the products,
which is powerful. In the IM world it’s fairly standard so
when you say master resale rights no one blinks an eyelash,
but think about what you have

Sam: what do you mean

Terry: You have the right to distribute those products any
way you like, some people will give them away, others will
sell them as is. You have to be different. I know it’s
cliché but think outside the box.

Sam: just tell me what to do

Terry: I have an idea for you that I do and it works really
well. The resale rights products you have with ebooks or
reports, record them as audios and offer the audio as a
bonus or an upsell or even as part of your product. That way
it sets your products apart from the others that are exactly
the same. Suddenly your selling a product with a greater
value because it has an audio that goes with it. Or add a
video to it. Show how the principles in the book work in
real life.

Sam: ok but

Terry: Hang on a sec you can also turn them into tangible
products by printing them and having them bound or burning
them onto a CD. That also increases the perceived value. So
now you have a full range of products that you’ve added
value to and no one else has.

Sam: I don’t know how to do audio or video

Terry: you can either learn or outsource it. Audio is
simple. If you visit my site www.TerryTelford.com/webaudio
I show you how to set things up with one piece of software.
It’s as easy as pie :) Video is about as simple if you use
camtasia. It’s a bit more expensive, I think it’s around
$400 at www.techsmith.com

Sam: ok

Terry: one more thing that’s even simpler is timing. If
you’re one of the first people to start marketing a resale
rights product, you have a good chance of making some good
money for about 2-3 weeks after the product is launched
before everyon’e is marketing it. That’s why I start my
products in the warrior forum. Did you see my special offer
at the warrior forum

Sam: yes that’s why I wanted to ask you about these things

Terry: Excellent. I’m glad you did. Anything else I can
help you with?

Sam: probably lol but I’ve taken enough of your time now

Terry: I’m always happy to help Sam just ping me again if
there’s anything else I can help with

Sam: thanks terry

Terry: my pleasure Sam

I hope the advice I gave Sam helps you with your Master
Resale Rights products too. And I wish you the best of
success.

Talk again soon.

Enjoy your day!

Talk To Me And Increase Your Sales 179%

Monday, February 11th, 2008

Here’s a tip for you to increase your sales by up to 179%. Add audio to your website. That’s it. When I visit your website, I want you to talk to me :) That’s what I’m getting from the statistics.

Every time I add audio to a sales page, the sales increase. I don’t have any hard proof as to why it works, but here’s my theory.

We’re social animals. We like contact with each other. Reading a static webpage is fine for getting information, but if you want to reach your prospects on a more emotional level, the level that makes them buy, let them hear what you have to say.

Using audio on your sales page also develops a higher level of credibility and trust. When your prospect can hear you, you become more real and more believable. And when your prospect begins to know, like and trust you, making a sale becomes much easier.

And adding audio to your webpages is easy to do. If you don’t know what to say, simply read your sales page copy. Make sure you read it as if you were speaking and not in a monotone, bore-the pants-off people voice.

My personal statistics have shown increases of 179% at the high end and 63% increase on the low end, so whichever way you look at it, audio can seriously affect your sales figures.

Then I checked to see how much money was spent online last year. According to CNNMoney.com we spent $102.1 billion dollars online in 2006. Apparently the 2007 figures aren’t out yet. But the 2006 numbers represent a 24% increase over 2005, so we can estimate that 2007 figures will come in around $127 billion and maybe more.

Now imagine if all the websites that sold stuff in 2007 had used audio and increased their sales by even 50%, we’d be looking at figures around $190 billion for 2007. That’s $31 for every single person on the planet!

Now think about how that applies to you and your websites. If you could increase your sales by even 50% by just adding a little 1 or 2 minute audio snippet, would it be worth it? You bet it is and it’s not hard to do.

I’ve laid it out for you in my report, The Definitive Guide To Audio. You can get your copy from www.terrytelford.com/audioreport.html
