This is an actual affiliate email promotion I use to promote a list building product.
 

Subject: 5 Steps to fast track list building

Hi {!firstname}

How's things?

I hope you're really fired up about building your online
business after listening to the Tellman Knudsen interview.

Over the past 4 years, I've had the privilege of
interviewing some real master online business builders. And
regardless who I talk to, their success boils down to one
key factor...their list. Their list, or database is their own
personal gold mine.

So why reinvent the wheel? Simply follow in the master's
footsteps. Copy someone else's success and you'll enjoy
successful too.

And you know the really cool thing? If you do it right, you
can get pai'd to build your own list. Then you turn around
and market more products to your list and cash in even
more. It's not rocket science, in fact it's really
simple. Here's the formula:

Step 1
Put together a special report, an eBook, a piece of
software, or a package of useful products that you can give
away FRE'E.

Step 2
Set up an autoresponder to collect your prospect's name
and email address.

Step 3
Plug step 1 and 2 into each other. Set up a webpage that
offers your FRE'E product in exchange for your prospect
entering their name and email address into your
autoresponder form. You can see and example of this on

Step 4
Monetize your FRE'E sign up. When a prospect signs up to
receive your FRE'E product and clicks the submit button, the
next page they see should be a special offer page. This
special offer page should be irresistible and have your
prospects whipping out their credit cards for you :)

Step 5
Write a series of informative emails that you load into
your autoresponder. Each email should include useful
information as well as a gentle offer. Don't push sales
messages in people's face but offer them additional
resources that they can order from you.

And that's the whole 5-step formula.

If you take it one step further and look at a simplified
analysis, you can work out what every new subscriber
actually earns you!

Let's say you get a 2% conversion rate on your special
offer. In other words 2 people from every hundred that sign
up, also bu'y your special offer. And we'll use the real
life example from Your Marketing Journal that you saw in
Step 3. The price of the special offer is $17.

Here's how it plays out.

100 subscribers sign up
2 subscribers order X $17 each = $34
$34 / 100 subscribers = 34¢ per subscriber
So you earn 34¢ for each subscriber you get. And that's
only on the first sale. Now you have a subscriber that you
can send your messages to and earn money on them over and
over and over. This is how the big money is made. And it's
how you can cash in o'n email marketin'g too.

In the very simplest form, you have 3 functions to
perform.

1.
Put together a product to give away

2.
Build a web page that captures your prospect's contact
details

3.
Drive traffic to your sign up page

If you start with the basics and master the art of list
building, you can experience exponential business growth
from month to month. The first step is to educate yourself
on list building, then put your education into action.
